— Protech Attended the 4th Aramid Industry Technology & Application Development Forum 2026
From May 22 to 23, 2026, the 4th Aramid Industry Technology & Application Development Forum was successfully held in Shanghai. The forum focused on technological innovation and industrial implementation of high-performance organic fibers such as aramid, PBO and polyimide fibers. It gathered nearly 300 enterprises, universities and research institutions to discuss industrial development. As a leading enterprise in the field of protective composite materials in China, Protech was invited to attend the forum. Dr. Johnny Zhou, President and General Manager of Protech, made a keynote report and participated in the high-end roundtable forum, exploring pathways to a breakthrough for the aramid industry with industry elites.
High performance organic fibers served as a cornerstone of national strategic new materials, which are widely used in aerospace, bulletproof protection, rail transit and other fields, and are accelerating penetration in emerging sectors such as new energy and marine engineering. Nonetheless, the industry continues to grapple with challenges such as insufficient stability in large-scale production, key technological bottlenecks,structural overcapacity and cut-throat price competition, necessitating urgent cooperation among industry, academia, and research institutions, as well as a deeper integration of the industrial chain. With "technical communication, demand interaction, and collaboration" at its core, the conference covered all dimensions of macro industry outlook, core technological breakthroughs and expansion of key applications, building consensus and clarifying development pathways for the high-quality industry development.
With Protech having over 20 years of deep commitment to the field of protective composite materials, Dr. Johnny Zhou made a presentation titled "Analysis of Aramid Fiber Applications in the Protection Field." Drawing on Protech's technical expertise and industrialization experience in aramid ballistic-resistant and anti-stab composites, he analyzed the applications of aramid fibers in ballistic protection (including personal protection, vehicle and ship armor, and aerospace, etc.), stab resistance (including stab-resistant and combined ballistic-stab-resistant solutions), and impact blunt trauma protection. He highlighted that aramid fibers, with their inherent advantages such as flame retardancy, deformation resistance, and flexibility remained irreplaceable in some application fields. At present, the optimal integration of these advantages was primarily achieved through hybrid and other ways. In the future, aramid fibers would continue to evolve toward lightweight, high-performance, and low-cost.
In the roundtable forum , serving as a special guest, Dr. Johnny Zhou participated in discussions with nine senior industry experts including Professor Wu Dezhen from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Professor Hu Zuming from Donghua University, Professor Tuo Xinlin from Tsinghua University and Professor Liu Yue from University of Science and Technology Beijing, focusing on core topics such as the challenges in the aramid industry, technological breakthroughs, application scenario expansion and international market competition. Drawing on Protech's industrial experience in protective composite materials, he offered insightful perspectives and actionable strategies from the perspectives of technological innovation, industrial chain collaboration, green development and high-end market layout, making a significant contribution to addressing overcapacity issues, overcoming technical barriers, establishing a cooperative innovation ecosystem, and promoting consensus within the industry and enhancing international competitiveness.
